The tool reads the video and finds its main audio track before showing the available output choices.
A video file holds separate video and audio streams. When you choose original audio, the tool removes the video and copies the existing audio stream into a suitable audio file. It does not decode and re-encode the sound.
Direct extraction is available for common AAC, MP3, Opus, Vorbis, FLAC and PCM audio. Other codecs need conversion, so the original option is disabled when the stream cannot be exported reliably.
The tool can inspect common MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM and MKV files. It can also read supported MPEG transport streams such as MTS and M2TS. Actual support depends on the container, its audio codec and the media features available in your browser.
File extensions alone do not guarantee support. If a video is damaged, protected or contains an unknown audio stream, the tool will explain that it cannot process the file.
Your video stays on your device. HammadLab does not upload it to a conversion server. The finished file is held by your browser until you download it or choose another video.
Browser processing uses the memory and processor on your device. Very large videos may need a desktop browser with more available memory.

Yes. The tool can read supported audio tracks in MP4 files. AAC audio can usually be saved directly as an M4A file without re-encoding.
Yes. Select MP3 and choose a quality setting. The audio is decoded and encoded as an MP3 in your browser.
Original audio extraction does not re-encode a supported stream, so its encoded quality stays the same. Converting to MP3 or M4A re-encodes the audio and can make a small change to the sound. WAV is uncompressed but cannot restore detail already lost in the source.

No. The selected file is read and processed in your browser. It is not sent to HammadLab.
MP3 uses compression to make a smaller file that works with most players. WAV stores uncompressed audio and is much larger, which can be useful for editing.
Some videos are silent or contain an audio codec the tool cannot identify. A damaged, protected or incomplete file can also prevent the audio track from being read.
It works in current browsers that provide the media codecs needed for the selected conversion. Support varies by browser and device. Large videos are more reliable on a computer with more available memory.
